When we asked for input for our latest ad seeking more staff members this is what Shane offered:

“Are you creative, open-minded, hyper-motivated, charismatic, vaguely left-leaning and looking for a job? Do you like sailing and British sports-cars? Are you socially conscious, dedicated to environmentalism, and committed to providing quality architectural services? Do you want to work on the coolest Psuedo-Euro street in super-hip downtown Asheville, a mere 100 feet from the hottest coffee in town?”

“Small firm seeking Architectural Intern / Architect w/ 3-10 yrs experience in most aspects of the profession. Residential, commercial, re-hab / infill experience preferred. Super speedy CAD ability a bonus, basic proficiency required. Short attention span not a problem. No ties please. Smokers look elsewhere.”

Seriously . . .

We are looking for the right person, not just a warm body. Someone that fits in. This is a small firm and we like it that way. It's too small to hide in; too small to avoid doing the grunt work in; too small to be treated like a peon or, conversely, have someone that you can treat that way.

If you think about it, we spend more of our waking hours each day working with one another than we do playing Scrabble at home with our families. So, we want a harmonious, supportive, energizing work environment.

Right now (May, 2007) we're interesting in talking with the right people. We have a lot of interesting projects about to hit the...um...monitors.
